‘Siaga & Sukses Jelang Ujian Nasional Bahasa Inggris’ for senior high school is book which purpose to help students to be successful passing final examination. This book can help students through brief materials and exercises. Brief materials in this book will help students understanding the exercises which they have to answer. Besides that, its exercises also will make students to be active developing their thinking. So that is why this book is chosen to reviewed.
What is contained in this book is brief materials which explain some topics that are related with exercises, it is like explaining to ascertain main idea, meaning of word, phrases, and sentence in the text, meaning of short functional texts, and etc. This book contains some tips to help students answering the exercises, example of exercises and answerable where both can give students example of exercise in a lot of forms and explain about the exercise to get the answer correctly. In this book, part 1-15 is exercises in multiple choice and part 10-15, these exercises are using answer key. There also contains exercises of final examination’s prediction which is divided into part 1 and 2. In addition, it also has exercises of final examination 2008/2009, and exercises of final examination 2009/2010. Its all are made creatively. Students will not be bored because there contains brief materials which students can read it to make sure answering the exercises. As usually, students will be bored when book only contains the exercises, but this book is interesting, because it gives students exercises with brief materials, some tips, and answer key also.
What becomes pros of this book can be looked in contents which have style itself. Contents of this book contain exercises, but it is added with brief materials, some tips which can help students answering the question correctly, and not only that, it also contains exercises of final examination 2008/2009 and exercises of final examination 2009/2010. For editing, if it is looked from the picture for exercises or writing of exercises, it is looked clearly. Another thing is cover of this book is simple but interesting. It shows the picture of liberty’s statue where it can show about success. Colour background of cover is dominated by oranye, and it becomes book which looks elegant. Something else which is important of cover is the writing about information in book. It is just short information but it makes everyone sees and knows like what this book. About paper, paper which is used for this book is paper from recycle product. It means to stop dissipation of paper. It will help to decrease impact of global warming due to cutting of trees.
In any case, this book has cons of alphabet which is used on cover, where one of them is written in capital like words of ‘UJIAN NASIONAL’. The alphabet must not be written by all capital, but it can be written only in the first alphabet, like ‘Ujian Nasional’. If it is written like that, it will be looked balance with another words.
Actually, this book is good for students in junior high school, especially for preparing final examination. So, I recommend to students in junior high school to buy and learn this book, because I think this book is important to help students understanding exercises, especially English exercises for final examination. I hope what have I explained can be useful.
