A.    Introduction

The reason why I choose this book
First, I was assigned by the lecturer in Essay Writing. He is Mr. Otong Setiawan Djuharie. Second, I want to know the way to read some English books, articles, and other reading materials. 
B.     Content
“Intensive Reading. Bottom- up Reading” book tells us about the way to read and understand dictionary (page 32), article (page 43), etc. this book also tells us about Reference (page 35- 50), Phrase (Page 51- 90), grammatical structure (Page 91-174), and Punctuation (page 191- 204).
C.     Comment
In unit 1 “Ihwal Membaca”, (page 11-12) the writer informs us about everything that we have to read.
1.      Novel, short story, Essay, Biography, etc.
2.      Drama
3.      Poetry
4.      Letter, note.
5.      Newspaper and magazine (Headline, article, advertisement, weather forecast, etc)
6.      Etc.
Actually, some people do not understand how to read some reading materials above. So, I try to understand them in this book.
Surprise, when I read this book last week, I did not find novel, short story, biography, essay, poetry, letter, note, weather forecast and all reading materials that the writer had mentioned in page 11- 12.
And then, the important thing that this book should had told us the way to head. For the information, this book tells us about grammatical structure. It is almost 3/5 of this book. Grammatical structure is in page 51-190. In page 51-190, I did not find some reading materials. It is all about grammatical.
In the last pages (actually, in page 184-189, and page 199-203) I found some reading materials. But, I didn’t know the genre of text because they’re not referential reading materials.
In other word, in unit 1 (page 11-14), unit 2 (page 15-34), unit 3 (page 35-50), I got some information the way to read some reading, extensive reading, etc. and then, the writer also gave us some information about how to read or understand the dictionary.
And for the publisher, I don’t understand why the publisher used the black, brown color. And I think, in intensive reading, the publisher should have used the light color.
D.    Conclusion
Intensive reading book tell us about the way to read and understand some reading materials based on words, phrases, sentences, references, grammatical meaning, punctuations, and cohesion. And then, in this book there are some genres of reading materials that I have found. They are article, dictionary, and some essay that are unknown sources.
E.     Scoring
This book is all about reading such as intensive reading, extensive reading, skimming and scanning. But, this book does not emphasize the reading itself. And this book also does not emphasize reading based on words, phrases, sentences, etc. this book emphasize how to understand the structure. We can see from the book that has matter about grammar 3/5 of them.
According to the content, language that is used, technique that is used, and writer’s goal, this book is good to read by English Department Collegian and Other Collegian that study English also.
